I have made payroll. That shapes how I work.

I am Heath Aldrich. I founded Aldrich Web Solutions and spent 20 years building software for Prophet 21 distributors. I sold the company in 2023, and it is still going strong today. Aldrich Consulting is what I do now: I work directly with distributors on the custom integrations, line-of-business apps, and technology projects their business depends on.

Why I do this work

As a former small-business owner, I have a particular respect for family-owned and independent businesses. I understand the struggle to compete and to do more with less. I know what it is like to make payroll every two weeks for team members who are depending on you. I understand the stress, the hours, and the commitment it takes to make a business work.

That is why I like this work. I get to take the stress out of business-critical tasks, and add visibility to hidden problems before they turn into a catastrophe. Independent distributors are competing in a world built for big business. Helping them stand on a more solid foundation is work I am privileged to do.

What I bring

• Two decades inside Prophet 21. I know how the system stores and moves data, where it bends, and where it does not. I also know how distributors actually use it, which is not always how it was designed.
• A developer who has run a business. I have hired, budgeted, signed vendor contracts, and answered for outages. When I recommend something, I am weighing what it costs you, not just what is technically interesting.
• Deep infrastructure experience. For 20 years I personally managed racks of servers, network infrastructure, storage, and firewalls, and later cloud infrastructure on Azure and AWS. Early in my career I was a CCNA and a certified Cisco instructor. I ran production systems to a five-nines standard, built on proactive monitoring that identifies issues before they become problems.
• One person, start to finish. The person you talk to on the first call is the person who learns your process, designs the solution, and builds it.

Outside of work

I have been married to my wife, Amy, for 30 years, and we have three grown children we are very proud of. I am an active member of my church, where over the years I have worked in youth ministry, taught Bible studies, and played drums and led on the worship team. I live and work in the Evansville, Indiana area and work with distributors across the country.
